Vijayalakshmi Silks

Kale and Chek wanted their new home to blend with the environment. Their vision was for a strong and unique structure, suited to minimalistic design.

Description

Vijay Lakshmi Silks Bangalore blends a calm, upscale boutique vibe with soft pastel tones—blush pink, muted lilac, powder blue and ivory—against light marble or terrazzo flooring. Geometric or floral wallpaper in muted pastels and occasional cane or rattan seating add subtle texture, creating an elegant, Instagram-ready space that lets the silk collections shine.

Challenge

The client owned an existing single-floor shop that had to stay live while a new upper floor was added. Renovation could not disrupt ongoing sales, yet a lift and internal staircase had to be inserted within the existing footprint, all while delivering a design that blends traditional aesthetics with modern merchandising systems. A new sub-brand needed dedicated space, and lighting had to reinforce both heritage ambience and contemporary retail functionality.

Solution

We had to design in a phased construction and we positioned a sleek, glass-enclosed lift and a narrow, timber-clad staircase against the rear wall, using the existing structural grid to avoid major structural alterations. The walls and ceilings were painted in soft pastel tones (blush, ivory, muted teal) and reclaimed-wood veneers were used throughout the store echoing the traditional feel while incorporating indirect lighting techniques to showcase the colours of the sarees.

What Clients Say About Us

“I can recommend Archdeco highly enough. They took my ideas and made them even better, and had all sorts of suggestions for details I would never have thought of, which made all the difference to the end result. The team totally got what I wanted and always managed to find just the right piece or the right style.”

“We purchased a wonderful north facing one acre block of land in Daylesford, to build an eco-friendly, stabilised rammed earth home. We are thrilled with the end result – with the quality of workmanship, the materials used and with the wonderful flexibility we had as we built this house.
